QAC Seeks Community Input on Potential Multi-Sport Tourism Facility

Queen Anne’s County is inviting athletes, coaches, sports organizations and community members to participate in two upcoming community input sessions as part of a feasibility study exploring a multi-sport tourism facility in the county.

This study will explore how new sports and recreation facilities could improve quality of life for our residents while attracting regional tournaments, generating visitor spending, and supporting local businesses. The study will help us understand community needs, market demand, and the financial considerations associated with potential development.

The study will evaluate local and regional demand, potential facility needs, concept layout options, and the potential economic impact of attracting regional sporting events and tournaments to Queen Anne’s County.

With input from residents, local organizations, and prospective users, the study will:

  • Identify the facility components best suited to community needs and sports tourism opportunities.
  • Evaluate potential locations, acreage requirements, and development considerations.
  • Estimate construction costs and long-term operating performance.
  • Assess potential economic and community benefits.
  • Recommend partnership, governance, and operating approaches.

The proposed concept being evaluated includes multi-purpose fields for activities such as soccer and lacrosse, baseball and softball fields, a potential outdoor baseball stadium, and amenities such as a mountain bike skills park, concessions and family-friendly gathering spaces. The study will also explore other recreational needs identified through community feedback.

We encourage you to attend one of the following sessions to share ideas, priorities and concerns:

Tuesday, November 10, 2026
 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
 Kramer Center
 104 Powell St.
 Centreville, MD 21617

Wednesday, November 11, 2026
 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
 Barrett Room
 425 Piney Narrows Road
 Chester, MD 21619

These sessions will provide an opportunity to share your perspective on existing recreational facilities, identify opportunities, discuss potential amenities and offer input on how a multi-sport facility could serve the community.

Community feedback will be considered alongside market research, financial analysis, potential site evaluations and other factors as part of the feasibility study.

This study is an exploratory step intended to provide information to guide future decisions. No final determination has been made regarding the development, location or funding of a multi-sport facility.

If you are unable to attend either of the upcoming meetings, an online survey will be released in the coming weeks, providing additional opportunity to share feedback.
